Apprenticeships
We are always eager to train new leatherworkers, whether you're transitioning out of another career or are a maker, by trade.
Our apprenticeship programme begins with a trial period - we're flexible with timing and can make arrangements to work with varying schedules (Monday-Friday). Leatherworking novices will be taught technical basics while those with some prior experience in handmade work will be taught more advanced skills. There is no compensation provided for the trial apprenticeship.
After the initial trial period, those who would like to continue will be asked to commit a minimum of 6 months to the studio, with increased weekly studio time of 10-12 hours. All apprentices will be trained in techniques utilised in the development and fabrication of our leathergoods, with an emphasis on specific construction and finishing techniques. Bench-time will be supplemented with additional reading/viewing to further the apprentice's design sensibility. Compensation for apprentices will be a weekly stipend.

Internships
We offer administrative internships, focusing on marketing/PR, design development, and web/social media development.
Interns will be asked to take part in the regular duties of running a small business and studio, including all the mundane tasks that the owner does herself, everyday - phonecalls, breaking down boxes, packaging orders, etc. Design interns will be asked to source materials, fabrication templates and prototypes, and act as general studio assistant. Administrative interns will be involved in building contacts, engagement opportunities, as well as general small business daily tasks. We are committed to internships as true teaching experiences and the principal owner/designer will always be available to mentor each intern, herself. We encourage innovation, follow-through, and initiative and try to foster a place for interns to grow into indispensable members of the crew. The studio is a creative environment, and it's also a disciplined environment - there is a lot of work to do and we do not muck about.
Intern compensation will be in the form of basic stipend and educational credit only, for the first month. After the initial trial period, compensation in the form of a weekly stipend will be revisited during a one-month review. We ask that interns make themselves available 2 days per week, on a consistent basis.
